Wafaa Bilal and Larissa Sansour are participating in A Drop of Sky, the third Public Art Festival in Baku, commissioned by the YARAT Contemporary Arts Space. Curated by Sara Raza, Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator for the Middle East and North Africa and YARAT Head of Education, the festival investigates how contemporary artists and audiences perceive the rapidly developing natural, scientific and technological changes currently occurring in Baku and beyond.
Sansour will present her film Nation Estate on 10 July in the YARAT Contemporary Art Centre's auditorium. Bilal will create a special rendition of the camera obscura sculpture entitled the Hierarchy of Being, which was originally commissioned by Maraya Art Park in Sharjah in 2013. He will launch his work on 5 October, the location will be announced soon.
The festival runs from 13 June - 5 October 2015, with artworks displayed in various locations across the city as well as through a web based technological component that explores the virtual public art platform. Read more
