Mounir Fatmi participates in the group exhibition 'Modern Times in Paris 1925 - Art and Design in the Machine Age', curated by Yo Shoji at the Pola Museum of Art, Hakone, Japan.

This exhibition introduces aspects of the relationship between machines and humans in Europe, America, and Japan, with a focus on Paris in the 1920s and 1930s. In particular, 1925, when the Paris International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts (Art Deco Exhibition) was held, was a watershed in changing values, and the geometric "Art Deco" style that harmonized with industrial products became popular. I reached the climax. After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 (Taisho 12), Japan rapidly rebuilt itself into a "modern" city, and during the interwar period, between prosperity and stagnation, people's values regarding machines and rationality changed. The outlook has changed dramatically.

This exhibition highlights artists who work on the themes of mechanical civilization, robots, and visuality in the digital age, and considers today's "Modern Times." Mounir Fatmi, who is Paris based, presents a video work by that focuses on the modernization of his roots in the Arab world.
