Nada Elkalaawy’s forthcoming solo exhibition, The Butterfly’s Burden, opens at Lawrie Shabibi on 23 September 2026. Bringing together a new body of paintings, the exhibition explores memory, loss and transformation through layered compositions that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction. Drawing on personal archives, found imagery and recurring symbolic motifs, Elkalaawy creates evocative spaces where presence and absence, remembrance and renewal, unfold in quiet dialogue.
