In the Paysages works, Afnan explored landscape through layered fields of colour, fragmented forms and densely worked surfaces. Rather than depicting identifiable places, these compositions suggest imagined or remembered terrains, often resembling maps, aerial views or archaeological sites. Earthy pigments and accumulated marks give the works a weathered quality, allowing landscape to become a space for traces of place, memory and time.
