Together, these acquisitions underscore AKI London’s commitment to presenting thoughtful and resonant works that extend the dialogue between contemporary art, space, and experience.
We are delighted to announce that Origami Sunrise (2025) by James Clar and Untitled (2023) by Nabil Nahas have been acquired by the AKI Collection at AKI London—a curated selection of contemporary artworks by leading international artists that seamlessly blends art, design, and gastronomy in an immersive cultural experience.
Curated by Dr. Polina Surina and Virginie Puertolas-Syn, the AKI Collection brings together works exhibited at major institutions including the Tate, MoMA, and Centre Pompidou. Its vision is to create a dialogue between visual art and the sensory experience of dining, transforming the restaurant into a living gallery.
Nabil Nahas — Untitled (2023)
Rendered in acrylic and pumice, Nahas’ painting evokes both coral reefs and celestial galaxies. Its richly textured surface opens a space between geology and cosmology, reflecting the artist’s Mediterranean heritage while engaging with universal ideas of form and rhythm. As an anchor work within the AKI Collection, it connects the restaurant to a broader cultural conversation surrounding heritage, nature, and abstraction.
James Clar — Origami Sunrise (2025)
Clar’s Origami Sunrise is a light installation that simulates the shifting hues of dawn. Through a subtle cycle of illumination, the work captures the tension between fragility and permanence in natural rhythms. Within AKI, it transforms the space into a moment of meditative awe—inviting viewers to experience the ephemeral beauty of light and time.
