Hamra Abbas Shortlisted for Art Here 2025 and the Richard Mille Art Prize at Louvre Abu Dhabi

We’re pleased to announce that Hamra Abbas has been shortlisted for Art Here 2025 and the Richard Mille Art Prize, Louvre Abu Dhabi’s flagship exhibition platform spotlighting leading contemporary artists from the GCC, MENA, and Japan

Curated by Sophie Mayuko Arni, this year’s edition calls for large-scale outdoor works that respond to the theme “Shadows”, inviting artists to consider the interplay of light, darkness, and form in the museum’s architectural setting. The shortlisted works will be unveiled at the museum on October 11 and will be on display until December 28. The winner of the Richard Mille Art Prize will be announced following the opening of the exhibition in October.

Art Here continues to establish itself as a critical platform for artistic dialogue across the region. For the first time, it includes artists from Japan, expanding its reach and introducing new cross-cultural dimensions—particularly through the concept of In’Ei (陰影), a Japanese aesthetic that mirrors local traditions such as mashrabiya and Islamic architectural shading. Set beneath Louvre Abu Dhabi’s dome, the 2025 edition will present a series of sculptures and immersive installations that engage directly with the shifting light patterns of the site.

The exhibition is held in partnership with Richard Mille, whose annual Art Prize accompanies the show, underscoring the museum’s commitment to artistic innovation and transregional exchange.
