Pouyan participates in his first solo exhibition at Galerie Nathalie Obadia in Paris titled We owe this considerable land to the horizon line, which opened on 9 March and continues until 6 May 2017.
Pouyan presents twelve miniatures based on a selection of Persian miniatures depicting scenes from the ascension of Prophet Muhammad. The artist removes figures, aureoles, and other unreal elements from the works to transform them into abstract images or simple architectural scenes.
The exhibition also features 28 ceramic domes, towers, mausoleums and monumental buildings conceived and crafted by the artist. The sculptural works engage a wide-ranging history of architectural forms dedicated to the display, defense, and consolidation of power. Read more
