'Late Monuments' is a series of stone carved windows with coloured glass inlays that imagine future archaeological monuments in the Palestinian landscape constructed with the traditional technique of Qamariya windows, often found in mosques and churches in Palestine, Yemen, and Egypt.
Stained-glass windows line the top of the Qibli Mosque, one of two main structures inside the Aqsa compound, along with the Dome of the Rock, a gold-domed prayer hall. Many of these are broken as a result of clashes within the compound and can take many months to repair as a result of restrictions imposed by the Israelis.
The form of each monument is based on archeological structures that are housed in the Rockefeller Archeological Museum - more specifically from Jericho's Hisham palace, an early Islamic archeological sites in Palestine.
