Forest Exploration was inspired by my trip to India, where I saw a rare white peacock in a wildlife reserve. The peacock flashes around the canopy- we cannot be sure if we have seen it clearly, but looking for it leads us deeper and deeper into the forest.
My painting in this work is more abstract than most, taken initially from photographs, but modified substantially. The naked figure is taken from Persian miniatures- the miniature scale highlighting the enormity of the forest.
