Rain Prayer relates to Forgiveness- the prophet-like figure in the centre is the same protagonist in both. The title refers to the prayers offered in a desert country for rain when the weather has been especially harsh.
I first painted the swirling cloud, and its form reminded me of tying a turban. The lions resemble those of the Pahlavi dynasty, seen at Ramsar Hotel and other places, and the unnatural colours of the blue faced lion connects to the mysterious face of the female attendant on the right. The second attendant (on the left) completes the compositional pyramid.
