This work shows two prominent theatrical figures, Saad Ardash and Karam Mutawe.

Saad Ardash (1924-2008) had a long and diverse career, which spanned directorial roles in theatre as well as art criticism and television programming. He worked at a time when cultural production in Egypt was central to a revolutionary ideology of social change.

Karam Mutawe (1933-1996) was an actor and theatrical director plays such as Yasin wa Bahia and al Fata Mahran. His first film role was in 1966 when he took on the lead role in the movies Sayed Darweish and Idrab al Shahatein. He later left film to concentrate more on theatre. Some of the plays he has starred in are: Laylat Masra’ Jifara, Watani Aka, Ya Beih Khabreini, and Tha’ir Allah. In the late 1980s he made a comeback by starring in the movies: Al Moshaghibat Al Thalatha, Imra’ah Lilasaf, Ana wa Al Azab, Hawak, and Al Mansi. He has appeared in television series like al Sabr Fi al Malahat and Arabisque.
