Twenty five painted ceramic figures representing the diversity of Egyptian society-
liberals and conservatives, Muslim and Coptic clerics, able-bodied and disabled. All
sections of society took part in the wave of nationwide protests which began on 25
January 2011 and led to the resignation of Hosni Mubarak on 11 February. Represented too is a group of three riot police dragging a partially undressed female protester along the floor. These are the same kinds of figures seen populating the city in Cairo Walk. Taken out of this context they nonetheless eloquently evoke the many faces of the city of Cairo.
