Determined to become an artist, Saudi left home at the age of seventeen with ambitions to study in Paris. During a stopover in Beirut, she held her frst exhibition of drawings at Café de la Press in 1963, selling works that fnanced her ticket to the French capital. At the fair, the artist presents The Seagull, a sculpture from Carrara marble that recalls the birds that accompanied the artist on her journey by sea to Paris in the early 1960’s.
