Abu Dhabi Art, 2018: Booth A25

Manarat Al Saadiyat, 14 - 17 November 2018

Lawrie Shabibi (Booth A25) is delighted to announce its return to the 10th edition of Abu Dhabi Art, featuring a booth presentation of sculptures and works on paper by Mona Saudi in the Focus: Icons sector of the fair curated by Omar Kholeif.

At this year's edition, we present a selection of works by Mona Saudi - sculptures and paintings most recently shown as part of her survey in March 2018 at the Sharjah Art Museum and organized by the Sharjah Art Foundation.  Born in 1945 Mona Saudi has for four decades been carving stone sculptures: one of the very few Arab women artists to pursue sculpture, her achievements establish her as a key figure in the history of Arab art.  With titles such as The Dawn of CreationMother Earth and The Gate of Life our presentation focuses on her modernist abstract forms that are inspired by nature and the passage of time. Central to her practice is her connection to her roots: her sculptures are carved from stone found in Lebanon and jade from her native Jordan.  Alongside the sculptures we present a selection of original paintings that date from the 1970’s and 1990’s.

The fair will be held between 14 - 17 November at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
